Family Dining

At Q3 Academy Langley, we believe that sharing meals is about more than just eating—it’s about building a caring community. Every morning, students in Years 7, 8, and 9 gather with their year groups to enjoy a complimentary breakfast together. This “Family Breakfast” includes toast, cereal, water, and fruit or yoghurt when available. During exam times, our older students in KS4 are also invited to join us for a free breakfast.
Lunchtime is just as special. All year groups, including KS4, come together for “Family Lunch.” Both meals are freshly prepared on site by our Sodexo team, with a choice of meat or vegetarian dishes each day. The cost is £2.60, which matches the Free School Meals allowance, so everyone can enjoy a meal together. We’re proud that our allergy-friendly approach was praised as a model of excellence during our last FSA visit in November 2024.
Our school ethos, “To Seek for which is good, right and true,” shines during these mealtimes. Instead of a typical canteen where students might leave trays behind, our students take responsibility for themselves and each other. They help set the table, serve food and drinks, and tidy up together. No one leaves until their area is checked and approved by a staff member, showing kindness and teamwork every day.
Mealtimes are also a chance for us to come together, much like a family assembly. Students enter calmly and quietly, and a member of our Senior Leadership Team or Personalised Learning Director welcomes everyone, making each meal a special occasion and a break from the classroom.
All staff who work with students join them at the table, and guests are always welcome. Adults help model good conversation and table manners, encouraging students to speak clearly, reflect on their day, and discuss topics that broaden their knowledge and understanding of the world.
At the end of each meal, we take time to share appreciations, encouraging everyone to be kind, respectful, and thankful.
We don’t have a traditional morning break canteen, but students may bring their own snacks or drinks for this time. Please remember, snacks must not contain nuts and should be suitable for school, as approved by the Headteacher.
