Q3 Academy Langley Curriculum Intent

At Q3 Academy Langley, we believe every child deserves to thrive in a diverse, caring and inclusive environment. Our curriculum is designed with all our families in mind, ensuring that every student can ‘live life to the full and seek for that which is good, that which is right and that which is true.’

What Makes Our Curriculum Special?

  • Celebrating Diversity: We welcome students from all backgrounds and cultures, making sure everyone feels valued and included.
  • Ambitious Learning for All: Our lessons are challenging and engaging, helping every child to learn more, know more, and do more.
  • A Broad Range of Subjects: From English and Science to Art, Drama, and Music, our students enjoy a rich variety of subjects and experiences.
  • Support for Every Child: We make sure no child is left behind, including those with special educational needs. Every student receives the support they need to succeed.
  • Building Character and Values: Our curriculum helps students grow into kind, responsible citizens who make a positive difference in the world.
  • Literacy and Numeracy for Life: We prioritise reading, writing, and maths, giving students the tools they need for everyday life.

Key Stage 3: Growing Together

  • All students study a wide range of subjects, including English, Maths, Science, Geography, History, Computing, Design Technology, Languages, Art, Drama, Religious Studies, PE, and Music.
  • Each year, we have a special KS3 Ethos Week, where students take part in exciting activities and learn important life skills with the help of outside experts.
  • In Years 7 and 8, weekly Enrichment sessions help students discover new interests and broaden their horizons.
  • Year 9 students can explore Citizenship and even complete a GCSE in the subject.
  • Our Tutor Time and Family Breakfast and Lunch sessions help build friendships, character, and essential skills.

Key Stage 4: Preparing for the Future

  • Most students study a full range of academic subjects, with lots of choices to match their interests and ambitions.
  • Tutor Time and Family Lunch continue to support personal growth, wellbeing, and knowledge.
  • Careers guidance is available throughout the year, helping students and families plan together.
  • Work Experience for Year 10 is held in February for each academic year.

Beyond the Classroom: Enrichment and Fun

  • Sports for Everyone: From football and netball to athletics and badminton, there’s something for every child. Our School Games Gold Mark shows our commitment to sport and teamwork.
  • Arts and Creativity: Students can join drama productions, music lessons, and even work with visiting theatre companies. Our Music Mark award celebrates our passion for music.
  • STEM, Talent Shows, and More: We offer challenges, competitions, and opportunities for every interest.
  • Leadership and Adventure: Programmes like the Combined Cadet Force and Duke of Edinburgh awards help students develop confidence and leadership skills.
  • A welcoming library: Our library is open every day, providing a quiet space for reading and independent study.
